Where We’re At

Since 1996 this thing we love, what used to be called ‘the weed game’, has steadily been maturing into a legitimate industry. As modest-sized operators struggle to stay competetive and keep the doors open Big Money players enter the market and impose their influence on the global industry. We at de Circa ‘96, belive that legacy mom n’ pop shops will only be able to stay relevant in this changing landscape by linking up and holding collective space. Utilizing a combination of custom software and strategic partnerships, we work to create solutions to financial barriers of scale faced by indepedent cannabis operators and their communities. Systematizing the return to cooperative cannabis sourcing and purchasing is vital to both the integrity of products and supply chains, as well as maintaining a sustainably inclusive culture.

focus

  • Due to high overhead costs and tax requirements for cannabis operators throughout the entire supply chain, retail prices of legal cannabis products are significantly higher than the black market prices that cannabis consumers have come to expect; leading consumers to buy heavily from the illicit market instead of the legal market.

  • The collective/cooperative/social aspect that has always been at the core of cannabis culture is missing from the consumer and operator purchasing process and overall marketing narrative.

  • Small cannabis retailers and distributors (operators) do not have the resources to  access suppliers’ pricing tiers that would allow them to save money by buying in bulk.

  • Small cannabis operators lack purchasing power to negotiate more favorable terms with suppliers.

  • Small cannabis operators lack storage space and customer-demand to procure in bulk without fear of product expiring.
